Working with resource links
Linking to files with the WYSIWYG content editor
- First, upload your file that you want to make available via the Media tab in the CMS.
- In the WYSIWYG content editor (in pages, articles, sermons, etc.), write a piece of text or insert an image that will serve as the link (ie: "Click here for... ").
- Highlight this text with your cursor and click the Link (chain) icon.
- In the dialogue box, you have the option to select an item in the Link List (Article, Page, Event) or select a Document by selecting the Folder and Magnifying Glass icon.
Please Note: you can also Upload new files from this icon as well
Getting a specific media item URL
To get the URL of a specific media item, open the media item by visiting Media Media [Media name]. The file's URL will be available there for you to copy (with Ctrl/Cmd + C) and paste (with Ctrl/Cmd + V). This is generally for copying and pasting a link to a file elsewhere online.
Browser behavior when downloading files
Different web browsers may treat links to various file types in different ways. For instance, when clicking on a link to a PDF document, the browser may either download the document to the computer's "downloads" folder, or attempt to open it in the browser itself.
Embedding media
If you need to make a media item useable inside a webpage itself (embedding), you may need to use a player or a special embed method, depending on the type of media you're working with. See the articles below for more information.
